Wednesday, January 8, 7 pm, Ygnacio Valley Library, 2661 Oak Grove Road, Walnut Creek.

Join the Mount Diablo Group at our January meeting for a photo tour through Paris by bicycle with Sara Barz. Sara lived in Paris for the 2012-2013 school year on a Fulbright fellowship to study the Vélib’ bikeshare program. Vélib’ is one of the oldest and largest shared-bicycle programs in the world; it provides about 20,000 bicycles that allow tourists and locals alike to pedal the streets of Paris. Come hear how to get around one of the loveliest cities in the world by bike, and stay for the recommendations on baguettes and patisserie.

Sara Barz is a graduate student in city and regional planning at UC Berkeley, studying transportation. A former Greenbelt Alliance staff member, she leads bicycle outings around the Bay Area and is involved with the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. In her free time, when she’s not riding around the area she enjoys hiking the many gems of the Bay Area greenbelt and exploring farmers’ markets.
