Saturday – Sunday, September 8 – 9.
Inner City Outings (ICO) is an all-volunteer outreach program of the Sierra Club that provides wilderness experiences for at-risk individuals who might not otherwise have them. Since a majority of our income comes from donations, our continued success depends on fundraisers such as the upcoming Inner City Outings Rafting and Camping Benefit.
On Saturday guests have the opportunity to raft and explore the South Fork of the American River, a class III river rich with history and exciting whitewater. Those opting for Sunday’s trip on the Middle Fork will tackle more challenging class IV rapids, including the infamous ‘Tunnel Chute’, while exploring a rugged wilderness canyon etched by the earliest days of gold mining.
Rafters and non-rafters alike can enjoy their stay at a beautiful, quiet campground on the banks of the South Fork American River. Nearby activities include: cycling, hiking, Gold Rush tourist attractions, wineries, and fishing.
Since we are an all-volunteer organization, all proceeds will directly support ICO Rafting’s outreach activities. They will help ICO reach deeper into under-served communities hit hard by tough economic times, contributing to building a new generation of supporters for the environment and the Sierra Club.
