Stop work orders from eating up SF transit funds

In 2007 the Sierra Club supported Proposition A, to redirect about $26 million in parking revenues to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA, which operates the Muni buses and trains). In the spring of 2009 the public learned that work-order billings from other departments to the MTA had risen to roughly equal the Prop A money.

With the MTA once again facing a budget deficit, the Sierra Club urges the MTA to restore that money to the agency’s direct transit operations. This is especially important for building public trust, so that voters can support future MTA funding requests.

WhatYouCanDo

Write to the MTA Board of Directors at MTABoard@SFMTA.com. Urge them to restore the Prop A money to the agency’s direct transit operations.
