East Bay Dinner–“The Great American Southwest and the Sierra Nevada by Starlight!”–Thursday, October 27

Thursday, October 27, no-host cocktails/social hour 6 pm, dinner 7:00, program 8:00, Berkeley Yacht Club on the Berkeley Marina, one block north of the west end of University Avenue (ample free parking is available in the Marina parking lots).

Please join us for an exciting evening filled with the stunning images and high-definition videos of photographer Tony Rowell, son of renowned mountaineer and photographer Galen Rowell.

This will be a double-feature!

Tony will share his newest photographs from his adventures in the great American Southwest. In addition, for the past two years Rowell has been shooting astronomy time-lapse videos that combine earth-bound subjects with the countless stars above locations in Yosemite and the eastern Sierra. He will show us his latest footage in his short film “Sierra Starlight”.

Although his photography expeditions have taken him from the Arctic Circle to the mountains of Tibet, his favorite place in the world is still the eastern Sierra near his home in Bishop.

Tony is the vice president of Mountain Light Photography and serves on the advisory board for the Rowell Fund for Tibet, as well as on the advisory committees for the Rowell Award and Restore Hetch Hetchy.

His award-winning photos and digital images have been published in books and calendars, and in Astronomy, Backpacker, Nature’s Best, and Outdoor Photographer. His photos are on exhibit year-round at Mountain Light Gallery in Bishop and at the Tioga Pass Resort near Yosemite. Many of his photos can be viewed online at:
